Redesigned Business Technology Consulting Course for Inclusion!

The Michael G. Foster School of Business School at the University of Washington is a top-ranked business school in the United States and world with roughly 2,500 undergraduate and 1,500 graduate students.

Challenge: Foster administration had partnered with Hewlett Packard to teach students small business and technology consulting skills but wanted to deepen their focus on teaching students to work with minoritized business.

Approach: Conducted participatory design research with Foster Business School students, faculty, and staff and subject matter experts from Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). Integrated industry best-practices, student and faculty past experiences, and observed interactions between students, HPE mentors, and UW faculty during summer internships. Work included document analysis, literature view, and curriculum design.

Result:

Newly designed Management 440: Multicultural Consulting is currently offered as core of Business Technology Consulting Program.
